What are some creative games and activities for children under 6 year old?

Question by : What are some creative games and activities for children under 6 year old?
Our group are hosting a Spring Festival for children under 6 years old. It’ll be at daycare center and we want to plan some games and activities for little kids to do. What’s some event we could do and that are not expensive? Our theme involved something with nature. Any ideas?

Have each child plant a seed in a cup. Use 5 or 6 ounce plastic cups and have them decorate the cups with stickers. This would be easy and fun for the kids. You would need dirt from a garden store (one bag would do about 30-40 cups) the cups, and some seeds. You could use grass seed, also.

Some books that are about nature that are popular with kids are:
The Flower Garden by Eve Bunting
In the Small, Small Pond by Denise Fleming
Author Lois Ehlert has several spring-type books- Waiting for Wings, Planting a Rainbow, Growing Vegetable Soup

See if you can google some websites to give you ideas, try searching “Preschool Express”, “Scholastic”, “Prekinders.com” and “DLTK.com”

    - you can search for some fun nature related songs online, or make up songs using old nursery rhyme tunes.
    - doing arts is always fun! you can make egg carton flowers so you would even be recycling.
    - look for sounds that pertain to nature and have a guessing game
    - or a guessing game like charades where the kids will act out something from nature that you cued. iif you think they may be too young, you can do it yourself and have them guess.
    - hunting game! hide some nature related toys like stuffed animals and have the kids hunt for the animals.
    - make a box, put a hole and call it “feely box”. put nature related things inside and have the kids guess what’s inside
    - pretend play using pretend seeds like pretending to be farmers, or pretend to be animals
    - make up stories and act it out together.

there are plenty of things you can do. research, think and imagine what would you like if you were in their shoes.
